ERBR Region Sides Selection Policy

Region Selection Policy 4th July 2023 Review February 2024

As part of the pathway to State selection, it is expected that the team selected will consist of the best available players from the region.
All players selected to represent Eastern Ranges Bowls Region (ERBR) are to be playing at the top level, have earned the right to wear the ERBR uniform and are fully committed to the event.
The selection policy is to be published on ERBR website.
Policy:

  1. Players will be competing in Bowls Vic Metro Pennant Competition.
  2. Players wishing to be considered for regional selection should participate in State events.
  3. Player performance at Pennant and State events, over a period of time, will be considered (not just a single performance). Current season form will have a greater weighting.
  4. Performance review in the previous region sides will be considered.
  5. Composition of representative squad will be by invitation from region selection panel.
  6. Must be available to participate in trials, practice etc
  7. Team balance may influence player position selection.
  8. All players to be selected on their ability and compatibility.
  9. Physical fitness for the demands of the Region Sides Championships will also be considered.
  10. Consideration for upcoming or developing players, however current performance is important.
  11. Any other factor considered by the Selection Committee relevant in the circumstances.
  12. Selectors will determine the method used for selection.
  13. The Selectors shall have total discretion in selection and may have regard to any one or more or none of the Criteria in any selection process and may give such weight to any one or more of the criteria as it sees fit.
  14. The decision of the Selectors shall be final. No reasons need be given for any selection or other decision of the Selectors. This shall not prevent, limit, or restrict the Selectors changing the selection of any Side or individual at any time in their sole discretion, having regard to all the circumstances.
  15. After the Region Sides Championship, the selectors will review and amend this policy if deemed necessary.
